Help us help cavaliers by donating any amount

Rupert's Fund is for everyone! -- especially pet owners who may feel they want to help the breed, hate this disease and the worries it brings, and aren’t sure how they can make a difference. This is a fund that is already making a big difference to researchers, with some very important genetic information coming just from the first five scans we funded!

Rupert’s Fund is a project that everyone can contribute to, anytime they wish, and as many times as they wish, starting from the smallest donations. Don’t forget: you don’t need to make a large donation to make a big difference. Many small donations make for big achievements! We’ve had individual donations that range from £3 to over £300, and every single one is valued and takes us one step further in ensuring that many more generations will enjoy this lovely breed.

How to make a donation:

There are several ways to help Rupert’s Fund.

  1. You can use PayPal

If you are using PayPal, all you need to do is click here:

Or, go to Paypal.com and paste in this e-mail address for your donation:

penny.knowler@ntlworld.com

This will bring up the Cavalier SM DNA research account (Syringomyelia DNA Research will be listed as the fund). You can choose the amount you wish to donate, then please remember to use the comments box included on the donation page to note that your donation is for Rupert's Fund. If you want to be extra sure you can also e-mail Penny Knowler -- Dr Clare Rusbridge’s research assistant -- using the same e-mail address and note that you have made a donation for Rupert's Fund.

  1. You can write a personal cheque (in UK) or send a banker’s draft (rest of the world)

If you are in the UK, and can write sterling cheques, you can make donations this way as well.

If you are in some other part of the world, and can't use PayPal, any bank will do a bankers draft in pounds sterling for a very small fee.

If you write a check or use a bankers draft, you can make the payee "Syringomyelia DNA Research", be sure to add a note to indicate it is for Rupert's Fund (and you may wish to write 'Rupert's Fund' in a corner of the cheque itself) and send it to:

Dr Clare Rusbridge,

Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital,

Goddard Veterinary Group,

41 High Street

Wimbledon Common

London SW19 5AU

UK

Have you MRI scanned a cavalier that was 6 or older at the time of the scan?

Scans of older dogs are so valuable to this final stage of the genome work, and will also be extremely valuable to the EBV project. If your dog  was scanned and has a kennel club registration number and/or a pedigree, it is likely to be valuable to one or both projects. Please email Penny Knowler at the email address above to get more information.

But scans of cavaliers of ANY age are also important to researchers! You can get information on sending ANY MRI scan for a registered cavalier of ANY age from ANYWHERE in the world to Dr Sarah Blott for the Estimated Breeding Values project, HERE.
